Mistress Mercy Grey, Auditor

I have been with my Lords household for the last 12 years. I was born near Cowdry House and married a man of the old lords household. My first husband held the post of auditor but since the drunken lout was more interested in tupping the serving maids and sleeping till noon than in managing the books the lions share of the work fell upon me. What else was I to do? Auditor is a position of respect and trust; I would not have us lose our position and livelihood. When, about 8 years ago, my husband's heart gave out I offered to continue to manage things until my lord found a replacement. He has yet to do so and as long as I continue to do the job efficiently I suspect he will not try overmuch. Meanwhile I am happily re-married to the head cook, Master Grey with whom I am well satisfied.
